Cik Cik Periuk

Cik Cik Periuk is Indonesian child song, from the province of West Kalimantan. I never know the meaning of that song, nor remember the whole lyrics, except the first part:

but i always like the music. Why did i suddenly remember this song? Well, things came out randomly on random occation, in random time, because of random driver. *grinning*

Last week marked of anything new on many things, from the start of the new calender, which mean also new activities. So i cannot spare enough time to write a thing or two. Regardless, i tried to write something.

First i will start with my routininity. In particular, of course my activity in office. Okay, for obvious reason, related to research. For this year, i am part of the team to conduct research on forecting flare of the Sun using artificial neural network. What’s this?

Sometimes there are explosions in the Sun with particular energy characteristics, called as Solar Flare. So violent the explosions, and affect us in the Earth. That is why, the Solar Physicists pay attention to the occurence, and learning any aspect of that event, including the possibilities of occurence, as what i should do for this year. And the artificial neural network is an artificial representation of the human brain that tries to simulate its learning process. The term ‘artificial’ means that neural networks are implemented in computer programs that are able to handle the large number of necessary calculations during the learning process. But last week not only marked the beginning of my routinity, there were also other things that caught into my attentions. Not to forget other activities, like routine observations, propose for development of observations. Well, hectic and can be so tedious.

It was a pity that last sunday was raining, so i could not play tennis on Sunday. But, there were another sports, (at least to watch in television).

My favorite soccer team is Newcastle United! Yes, the magpies from the English Premiere League! Hwehehehe .. and as the January 2009 started, the Magpies already held draw, twice! Uh oh .. the first one is in FA Cup, held by Hull City, and the second one is in EPL, held draw by West Ham United. Now, that looks not so promising. Will they survive the ordeal?

Moving from sport, then came another attention: currently i am following the ongoing story of Final Crisis (the comic from the DC Comics), and i just finish read Batman RIP! Howaaa .. should Batman ‘die’ after 70 years or so of his service? The ‘final’ fate of Batman will be decided in the next Final Crisis arc story. I always fond of Batman, not only because he is the human in the meta-human universe, not only because of the technology that he use for his action, not only for his intelligence, but so strong his mind, which can be a formidable weapon, as in the arc story of Batman RIP.

Another story that caught my attention is the arc story of The Kingdom Come – Justice Society of America, (another tied story to Final Crisis), as this story end, and in the very last panel, there is a scene of ‘Legion of Super Heroes’ .. well .. will the new incarnation ‘Legion of Super Heroes’ come from Earth 22? Surely those are the interesting twist from the comicverse.

Well .. maybe those are the things with loose end of my interests in recent time, regardless, those loose ends can be tied up in a single idea, (imho): often i intrigue to a situation like: what is the result? what will be next? what if then? And then? Always try to jump to conclusion.

But at the same time, what do i miss: the fun and tension of passing moment. In every process, there is a thrill in every passing moment, like in soccer, there is always 2 times 45 minutes, and then the result wil be added to the table, then the table will be decided in every week, and the result will be decided after one season, that is a long process. But the rule is the same! In my work, in serial books, in antything, there is always a process, it can be long, tedious, it can be short, brief, we have to be in the process to feel the fun.

Mmm .. i have to keep it short, since i have to do a field trip, preparing for the upcoming annular solar eclipse. .. will continue later!

All in all, the process itself for me like ‘Cik Cik Periuk’, the song can be repetitious, nonetheless, a hilarious song!
