Its been two weeks since my last post – I was busy finalizing my next research article and it is now ready for publication. The days were flying along. My daily routine goes something like this: drive my 4yr old to kinder in the morning, then go to work, most mornings go quickly if there are talks and meetings, then lunch, by 2pm back to kinder to pick up my son, return home for a quick milk feed for the baby, and back at office for the afternoon before going home. At home, once the kids are asleep I spend the evenings doing some work too – for how late depends on the work and if there are any deadlines!! The weekends are even busier with the house work, and I need to spend some time with my family too…
Pretty soon this paper will be published – it has gone thru the referee review stage and the proof stage – where the formatting for the journal has been finalized. The topic is the on-going work on Chemical Tagging I mentioned in a previous post. There was a related ESO press release a while ago based on an earlier paper but on the same topic. There is also an article on Space.com on this work which puts it in the prespective of finding The Sun’s family tree. Its a pretty catchy way of putting it – so I decided to put it in title of this post. It really will be something if and when we can identify the Sun’s siblings.

In Science we try to predict the properties of an object by trying to analyse the properties of what it was made up of. But the object could have completely different properties to what it has been made up of.
For example Car, If you study the properties of small components that car is made up of ( eg – screws, steel parts, rubber parts, etc), will you be able to understand the properties of the car ?? like the speed, how many passengers etc.
If you take the human body, if you study properties of blood, bones etc will you be able to understand how the human is thinking ??
This is just a thought.
