I’ve been rather quite posting lately, and I’ve fallen into the scenario that
many astronomers face, grant writing! Its taken up so much of my time
lately that on most occassions I fall asleep as soon as I get home, but
thankfully now that the days are getting longer and it is now British
Summer Time, being sunny at 7pm in the evening has fooled my body clock
to stop acting like a hibernating bear!
This week has been science week at Hawkely Hall school in Wigan, and
some of the pupils were dead excitied that I was going to post some
images of the vehicles that they had built to evacuate people from the
oncoming “natural disaster” of a volcano erupting.
This is a workshop that the pupils are working in groups for called
“Live Disaster” where they are learning about how Envisat and Earth
Observation missions are helping us understand climate change and how
the data gathered from these missions can help scientists get people
out of oncoming disaster areas such as bush fires and flooded areas.
