Just a quick one. I will be giving a public lecture on the search for life in the universe. Being an astronomer I will mainly focus on the astrophysical aspects, but I will also touch upon related subjects. The lecture is going to take place in Udine (Italy) on August 12th and it is organized by the Cultural Association “Colonos”.
You can find more here. I will not be alone. On the stage there will be a percussionist (Ermes Ghirardini) and an actor (Sandra Cosatto). Ermes will improvise some percussive (acoustic and digitally sampled) tracks and Sandra will read a few excerpts I have selected from “de l’infinito universo et mondi” by Giordano Bruno.
The basic idea is to give people an overview of what the astronomical community is doing in this field, what the challenges are and what is ahead of us in terms of space missions and ground base facilities.
If you happen to be there, just come!
