International Year of Astronomy has almost ended, we are now approaching mid October and it feels, for me anyway, a little bit like the sand almost running out at the bottom of the egg-timer. In one respect 2009 is ending almost as it began. In January 2009 I presented a teachers workshop on IYA activities for the Galileo Teacher Training Programme. The workshop was held at a large science teachers conference, the Annual Meeting for the Association of Science Education. While presenting the workshop I was invited to give the workshop again at the London Science Learning Centre’s 5th birthday event, seems celebrating astronomy is catching on!<\/p>\n
So my past few days have been spent furiously putting the finishing touches to the resources, and continuously updating the materials list ready for the workshop on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
In the meantime whilst I’m preparing for Tuesday two friends in Korea are sending me details of the International Astronautical Congress in Daejon, Korea.<\/p>\n
Virgiliu Pop and Jim Volp are representing the World Space Week Association and the Heinlein Prize Trust and are distributing a education programme for teachers and science educators.<\/p>\n
